| Union Agway is a family owned business serving the needs of customers from Augusta to the mid-coast area. Herbert A. Hawes first began selling Agway (formerly Eastern States Farmers Exchange) bagged feed around 1933. Operating from the family farm, he along with sons, Howard and Arthur, supplied local farmers with their needs through the 40s, 50s, and 60s. As farms declined so did business through the 70s and early 80s. In March of 1985, grandson Ron opened a new retail store just off route 17, moved the Agway business off the farm and expanded the product offering to better meet the needs of homeowners and farmers. |

Growing, changing, and meeting the needs of today's consumers is the lifeblood of any retail business and Union Agway has been no different. Constantly expanding from its rather small store (1600' showroom) to today's modern spacious shopping facility. Moving to it's present location in 2001, we refurbished the building where the "Deere" used to roam. A retail store with farm store roots that go deep, we are now a Lawn Garden, Pet Supply, and Hardware Store but still have supplies for the farmer too! We carry a wide variety of products, including cards and gifts to that bag of feed for your chickens or horse, so come on in and visit |
