Wednesday, December 9, 2009 Thomaston Library Holiday Party, Children's Room Grand Opening 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thomaston Public Library The Thomaston Public Library invites the community to an open house to celebrate the grand opening of the new Children’s Room and the holiday season, and to thank its volunteers, neighbors and local government for their support. Attendees can share sandwiches and sweets, see the new space that is dedicated to children and young people, meet the new library assistant, and salute the holidays.
Wednesday, December 9, 2009 A Birds’ Eye View of Friendship 6:30 pm. Friendship Town Office The Friendship Museum will host a Holiday program at the Friendship Town Office. Bill Goodwill will present a slide show, "A Birds’ Eye View Of Friendship". He is the past President of the Midcoast Audubon Society and will share his enthusiasm, interest, and insights about Friendship’s avian population. His talk will be geared towards the winter water fowl and shore birds and he will speak about spring and summer birds. At the same time, the Museum will introduce a new display of Antique Decoys and other carved birds. The display case at the Town Office is being designed by new Museum President Susan Lott. Please join us for this special evening program, holiday refreshments will be served.

Free. Community choristers invited to join in on the "Hallelujah Chorus."
Thursday, December 10, 2009 Wessaweskeag Historical Society Holiday Celebration 7:30 pm. South Thomaston The Wessaweskeag Historical Society in South Thomaston will host a holiday music program with Harborside Harmony, a barbershop music group of women. The public is invited for the music and homemade desserts to follow. In lieu of the usual Yankee Gift Swap, there will be an opportunity to donate to the Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry. The historical society meets at the Keag corner of South Thomaston, across from the Keag Store and the post office, in the building adjacent to the Little Red Schoolhouse. FMI: 594-9081.

Saturday, December 12, 2009 Holiday Pops Concert 4:00 to 5:30 pm. CRHS Strom Auditorium ~ Rockport Maine Pro Musica and United Mid-Coast Charities will join to bring Holiday Pops to the midcoast. Maine Pro Musica is the pre-eminent midcoast orchestra which will be sponsored this season by UMCC. This 50 piece orchestra will also include on its program bellringers, dancing and a chorus. The Director will be Janna Hymes. Last year the Holiday Pops Concert was sold out. This year's tickets can be purchased at HAV II in Camden, The Grasshopper Shop in Rockland, or in Belfast at either The Green Store or Wild Rufus Records. Trade Winds Motor Inn ~ Rockland The Knox County Republicans will hold their annual Christmas Gala at the Trade Winds Motor Inn, 2 Park Dr. in Rockland. This will be in lieu of the monthly meeting. The gala will be in the Top of the Rock Room at the Trade Winds. Attendees are asked to bring an appetizer or desert to share. Several Republican candidates for governor will be in attendance; this is an opportunity to ask them your questions in an informal atmosphere.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009 Rockland Students to Perform Seasonal Selections 7:00 pm. Performing Arts Center ~ Rockland Band and chorus students at Rockland District High School and Rockland District Middle School will perform their holiday concert at RDHS in the Performing Arts Center. RDMS will begin the performance with a variety of seasonal selections. After a brief intermission, the RDHS band and chorus will take the stage to offer a program of holiday favorites. In lieu of admission people should take non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry.

All children from grades K-8 are contributors in this community wide event. Band students will perform first, and then classroom singers will present. This is a student opportunity to offer a musical thank-you to the community for its support and care.
